After months of hard work, regional WI Advisor Jean Gibbins will be joining us to inaugurate The Roses as an official Women’s Institute on Thursday 1st September 2016!
If you would like to become a founding member, please arrive no later than 7.30pm, Room 5 at Woolwich Town Hall with your £18.75 cash or a cheque made out for the same amount with no payee. We’re sure we will be enjoying a few celebratory drinks in the Woolwich Equitable afterwards, for those who are available!
Committee roles and responsibilities
There are three officer roles within the committee, the elected officers can then co-opt up to three additional committee members and may also appoint sub committees to take on various tasks, events, groups and initiatives.
- President – The President is the lynchpin of a WI and is its leader and sets the style. She should be enthusiastic and decisive, yet approachable and friendly in her manner, interested in her members’ views and ready to listen to their suggestions. Find out more about the role of President here.
- Treasurer – The Treasurer is appointed by the committee, at the first meeting after the Annual Meeting, to look after the financial affairs of the WI. As Treasurer, you have responsibility for the proper and efficient handling of your WI’s money and to advise on financial planning. Find out more about the role of Treasurer here.
- Secretary – The Secretary works closely with the President and, like her, should be aware of the WI’s Constitution and Rules. Find out more about the role of Secretary here.
- Vice President – There can be up to three Vice Presidents and their role is similar to that of the President. They deputise for the President in her absence. Find out more about the role of Vice President here.
Please share the news about us officially becoming a WI and encourage others to come and join. If any of you have a chance to print out this amazing poster (below) by Jemma Arlott and put it up in places local to you, we would be incredibly grateful. See you all on Thursday!
